What is a character boost?
If you’re an avid World of Warcraft player, you may have heard of character boosts. In a nutshell, character boosts allow players to instantly level up their characters to a certain level. With World of Warcraft Classic, players are now able to boost a character of their choice to level 58. This feature was added in WoW Classic’s Burning Crusade Classic Expansion, along with level 70 boosts which will be available with the release of the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Classic Expansion.
The latest innovations
Recently, Blizzard Entertainment – the developers of World of Warcraft Classic – announced two new innovations in terms of character boosts. The first innovation aims to make things more convenient for WoW Classic players, while the second one is more aimed towards helping them experience the lore of the game.
Innovation #1: Faction-based boosts
The first innovation is the introduction of faction-specific character boosts. Previously, character boosts were universal, meaning you could use them for any character you wanted, regardless of faction. Now, however, Blizzard has introduced faction-based character boosts which will only work for characters of the same faction as the boost. For example, if you use a Horde-specific boost, you can only use it on Horde characters. This innovation is aimed at incentivizing players to stick to one faction and create more of a sense of community within factions.
Innovation #2: Lore-based boosts
The second innovation focuses on the storyline of the game. In World of Warcraft Classic, there are certain levels where players are required to venture to a specific zone to continue the story. However, with the addition of the level 58 boost, players might miss out on the storyline of some of the lower levels. To address this, Blizzard introduced the concept of “Lore-based” boosts. These boosts will take a player up to a certain level, but only after completing all of the quests in that specific portion of the story. This way, the players who use the boosts will be able to experience the storyline of the game in full, even if they didn’t get to play it at a lower level.
Pros and Cons of character boosts
Like most features in games, there are both pros and cons to using character boosts in WoW Classic. One of the most significant pros of using a character boost is the possibility of catching up with friends and guildmates who might be at a higher level. This makes it easier for the player to enjoy all the content that WoW Classic has to offer, without having to worry about being left behind by their friends. On the other hand, one of the most significant cons is that using a boost can make leveling up a character seem meaningless – it eliminates the feeling of accomplishment that comes with reaching higher levels.
Despite some of the potential drawbacks, character boosts are great for getting into the action quickly, catching up with friends, and experiencing all the game has to offer. As the Blizzard team continues to innovate within World of Warcraft Classic, it’s likely we’ll see more changes and improvements to the character boost feature. One thing is for sure, the latest faction-based and Lore-based boosts represent the dedication of the developers to making WoW Classic an even better gaming experience for all players.
